Series DescriptionLetters from the Personal Papers of Walter Jona include but are not limited to various documents written by and for Walter Jona's family - predominantly his father Dr Jacob Jona. Included are letters of recommendation written for Jacob Jona for job application's once he had graduated from medical school at the University of Melbourne, as well as programmes and documents written during his time at medical school. Some letters of note include an invitation to Dr and Mrs Jona to attend a ball to meet Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of York in 1927, a Christmas card sent to Dr and Mrs Jona from Sir Robert G Menzies in 1939,two awards of recognition presented to Dr J. Jona and Miss A. Jona for recognition of services rendered in The Hawthorn Civil Defence Organisation during the World War 1939-1945, and letters written to Jacob from his young children Walter and Anne.
