Scope & Content"This is a collection of personal papers collected and compiled by Walter Jona (1926-2007). Walter Jona was a prominent Jewish Politician for the state of Victoria, and served as the Member for Hawthorn between 1964-1985. The Personal Papers of Walter Jona contain photographs, hardcopy correspondence, scrapbooks, family letters, and ephemeral material relating to both Jona's political and personal life.

The collection entails:
• Photographs: various overseas trips taken in both a professional and personal capacity, wedding photographs (1972), community events, Jona’s service in the RAAF and early family (1908-1945)
• Invitations (1959-1998)
• Correspondence relating to Jona’s role as a Member of Parliament and prominent community figure
• Papers relating to the memorial service for Jona upon his death (2007)
• Papers and ephemeral material relating to Jona’s life before entering politics in 1964
• Papers relating to Walter Jona’s father, Dr, Jacob Jona
• Scrapbooks entailing newspaper clippings published in relation or relevance to Jona’s parliamentary roles
• Scrapbooks entailing newspaper clipping which highlight Jona and Alwynne’s philanthropic work, including their commitment to various organisations like the RSPCA and The Asthma Association.
