Item DescriptionA filing folder, originally held in a blue vinyl hardcover exterior. Contains various documents relating to the death of Walter Jona titled in Memory of Walter Jona from his beloved wife Alwyne 2008, notable as follows: 1. A media release from the Premier Steve Bracks on the death of Walter Jona 2. An invite to the State Funeral held at Temple Beth Israel, Thursday 26 July 2007. The appearance is of a card stock pamphlet, it has been mounted on a piece of A4 paper. It contains psalms in English and Hebrew, and a description of the expected running events during the service. 3. A handwritten card that states 'A tribute to the HON. Walter Jona signed by his friends on the occasion of a dinner celebrating his long and distinguished service to this community as the longest serving member for Hawthorn 1964-1985'. Follows are 7 pages of signatures. It is written on good quality stationary. 4. 8 pages of newspaper cuttings pertaining to the life and death of Walter Jona, mounted on A4 white paper. It is not clear the full extent of coverage, but stories are included from The Age, The Australian Jewish News, The Herald Sun. 5. 3 letters of condolence 6. Excerpts from the Hawthorn Football Club magazine 'Hawk Talk', that details the life, contribution to football and death of Walter Jona. 2 pages. 37. 2 page excerpt from the magazine of the 'Aleph-Tav' Australian Friends of Tel Aviv University Chapter. Includes a short article written by Walter Jona just before his death, and a dedication made by the University to him. 38. 5 page excerpt from the Hawthorn Football Club magazine 'Hawk Talks' that details the opening of the Hawthorn FC Museum, and the contributions made by Walter Jona. 39. The proof copy of the Daily Hansard transcript from the Legislative Assembly Meeting of Tuesday, 7th August 2007.
