PROBE Magazine of the NSW JBoD

Series

Series DescriptionPROBE Magazine is a publication of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, which sought to give 'Background material on Jewish and Middle East Affairs'. The first issue was published late 1981/early 1982, and was compiled by Jeremy Jones. When the first volume of Probe" was published, the publication was envisaged to feature 'a number of articles concerned with media distortion of Middle East affairs', and subsequent volumes included a 'regular media watch which will consider items of interest excluded by International Editors from our newspapers'. The first issue of each volume was usually issued in November/December, and ran for 10 issues until 1986. In 1987, Probe reduced to 5 issues per volume. In the 1990s, Probe was published with a cover page, subtitled 'An Anthology of Articles on Israel, the Peace Process & the Jewish World', and was Edited by David Faktor. The format of the publication was still primarily a compilation of news articles covering areas of Jewish interest, antisemitism, and conflict in the Middle East. In 1998 Daniel Feiler took over as editor, in 2000 Aviva Bard, and in 2002 Alla Pilman. We do not have complete volumes.
