Series DescriptionThis series contains material related to Australian Association of Jewish Holocaust Survivors and Descendants - AAJHS-D and Yom Hashoah along with other associated institutions. AAJHS-D stands for Australian Association of Jewish Holocaust Survivors and Descendants. AAJHS-D was founded in 1992 and is dedicated to helping Holocaust survivors and their descendants. Yom Hashoah is known as a Holocaust remembrance day, it is a world wide event that remembers those who perished in SHOAH. Another note worthy institution is SHOAH, which has a correlation to this material. SHOAH is the Saving our History About the Holocaust - A guide development program of SJM. Material in this series includes (but is not limited to): Event planning documents produced by either of the three organisations mentioned above and/or other associated institutions. Letters from Dr. Michael Barenboim who was president of SHOAH. This letter is aimed at an event called "An evening of Tribute" which was hosted by SHOAH foundation to remember and tribute those who were affected by the Holocaust and revolved around the testimonies gathered by the organisation. A letter from Steven Spielberg was also received thanking those who shared their testimonies and regards to the event. (B7/SJM/019.006). Also included were correspondences and managing of events, including an event dedicated to Mrs. Bertha Taubman who donated $250,000 to the museum, this event was a small afternoon tea in which Mrs. Taubman was awarded a thankyou certificate, which is also present in the material. (B7/SJM/019.007). Correspondences and flyers for a SHOAH and AAJSH-D event related to Yom Hashoah are also present. This was a worldwide event in which the names of those who perished were recited on the anniversary. (B7/SJM/019.008).
