Personal Papers - Dr Joachim Schneeweiss' role as President of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ)

Series

Series DescriptionCorrespondence and ephemera in most part, relating to his role as the President of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ). Includes minutes and papers of the ECAJ annual conferences; President Reports; Honorary Secretary's Report; and various standing committees such as Public Relations Committee, Israel Standing Committee etc. This is an eclectic mix of records which are not defined as personal papers of an individual but rather a collection of records as the output and input of part of an organisation, in this case ECAJ or collected and retained from various organisations over the years. It would be beneficial to receive the records of the ECAJ at some point to ensure their preservation as it will provide a larger context, completeness to this collection of papers, rather than a standalone collection which was retained by Dr Schneeweiss during his role as President. It is not envisioned that it captures his entire tenureship at ECAJ. As the collection was donated by the family, we have captured the details as part of the personal papers Archives collection and not part of ECAJ. For this reason, the collection has not been processed or broken down into series of records, e.g. Minutes etc. but rather treated as one collection and itemised as such. Best effort has been made to group together like and like records, as there was no original order to the records. Should the records of ECAJ be received at some point, cross references will be made.
