Series DescriptionThe collection covers four areas: a) Australian Jewish culture b) Munz Biography; c) WWII Naval Intelligence material which are now open to the public such as The Foundations of the Military in Japan by Lieut Comm C. S. Sheppard, Oct 1943; and d) Australian wool trade such as correspondence, photos, notebooks and reports. The papers inlcude letters from Percy Grainger and his wife from the Yiddish original re literary pursuits and anti-Semitism 1/7/1935. Inlcudes Australian Jewish culture and Munz's biography; First Conference for Jewish culture in Australia, Sat 13-Sun 14 November 1948, ‘Kadimah’ Hall, Melbourne; Newspaper clippings in English and Yiddish re first Jewish Cultural conference. Partial copy of Di Yiddishe Post; death notices of Hirsch Munz; Biographical notes & Correspondence 1930–1981; Art extension lecture typescripts and letter from Florence Olsen; transcript of Certificate from Hebrew Scroll 8/4/27; letter from Dr N. Goldman 11/2/1939 re reference for Mr Zittau wishing to immigrate; various orrespondence, articles and newsapper clippings. His Certificate Of Naturalization from the Commonwealth of Australia, Death Certificate and documents that pertain to his service in the military during World War 2. Special intelligence. It also contains confidential intelligence reports, letters, papers, essays and communications on Nazi and Japanese activity before, during and after World War 2 as well as photos of their presence in various regions of the world especially black and white photos of Nazis in Indonesia, Stuttgart, Java and Medan 1934-1937; Medan, Malang and Semarang 1935-1936; photos of Hitler Youth Camp; and photos of Nazis in Singapore and Malang, Citizens of Singapore and buildings; Furthermore, the collection contains Hirsch Munz's letters of correspondence, research, press reports, royalty documents, movie pitches and drafts for his book The Australian Wool Industry. Moreover also present is his personal belongings ranging from his pocketbooks, diary and passports as well as There are also numerous photos of him and other individuals. Lastly, there are newspapers that contain articles that he wrote or that report on him and lecture notes, papers and research that relate to his time in academia.
