Marriages
The Australian Jewish Genealogical Society (AJGS) in Melbourne and AJHS in Sydney maintain a shared database of details and/or images of over 35,000 Australian Jewish marriage registry entries dating back to the first recorded marriage in 1832 of Rosetta Nathan to Moses Joseph at the Bridge Street Synagogue in Sydney To protect privacy, we have a policy of only publishing the approximately 7,300 marriages from over 80 years ago. While we have made every effort to correctly record these marriages, many of the older records are extracted from hand-written documents and there may be inaccuracies.
