B'nai B'rith was founded in USA in 1843 and now has representation in 53 countries with NGO status at the United Nations and there are member groups in Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland and Wellington.
Through its large membership base and network of volunteers and supporters B'nai B'rith Australia and New Zealand is involved in a wide range of activities within both the Jewish and general community. The B'nai B'rith Anti Defamation Commisson is dedicated to combating Anti-Semitism, racism, intolerance, prejudice, social justice and human rights. Courage to Care is a major outreach programme and travelling exhibition, designed to show people of all ages, all races, and all persuasions that each individual can make a difference by repsonding to prejudice and intolerance wherever they occur. They offer affordable self-care accommodation, and promotes nter-ethnic, inter-religious understanding, community welfare, youth, young adults, and support for the State of Israel.
