Authority Biography/Administrative HistoryThe NSW Inter-Schools Committee, operated from the mid-1980s until around the mid-2000s. Moriah College was the administrative centre for the program which trained Hebrew and Jewish Studies teachers.

The records represent the history of the Committee in terms of professional training and development of Hebrew and Jewish Studies in Sydney. The Committee represented all the Jewish day schools in Sydney and covered the costs of the position initially with the Guild Centre at Sydney CAE from 1985 (started by the late Mr Harold Nagley after his retirement from Moriah) and from 1990 with the Faculty of Education.

Suzanne Rutland, Professor Emeritus, filled the position of Jewish Education Coordinator in the Faculty of Education at the University of Sydney, position from 1990-1996, after which she moved to the Department of Hebrew, Biblical & Jewish Studies. The records relate to Suzanne's work for seven years as Jewish Education Coordinator in the Faculty of Education at the University of Sydney and are not personal papers as such.

Tony Buchen was interim until the appointment of Harry Opperman. Funding of the University of Sydney was eventually taken over by the JCA Plotke Fund and the Fund for Jewish Higher Education. By 2011, the Committee ceased to exist, and the documents ended up in the Archives at Moriah College.
