Author(s) Mark Dapin AbstractThis article tries to separate folklore from fact in relation to Jewish national service in the Vietnam War. The workings of the National Service Scheme, particularly related to ethnic and religious minorities will be described, then a brief overview of Jewish men's individual service will be outlined, then the unique factors that may have coloured Australian Jewish conscripts' service in Vietnam will be examined. In conclusion, some theories as to why Jewish men were underrepresented amongst national servicemen in Vietnam will be proposed..
