Author(s) Daniel Tabor AbstractThis article recounts the experiences of the author's parents, Hannalene Stillschweig a refugee from Berlin who arrived in Australia with her parents and David Tabor a physicist employed in Melbourne during WWII. Both were committed Zionists, but their experiences of living in Austalia in the early 1940s were very different and their stories throw light on some of the ways Australian society was changing due to the effect of war and how it responded to the arrival of Jewish refugees.
