Author(s) Raymond Apple AbstractThe son of Anglo-Jewish minister, Rev Isaac Pulver, who settled in Melbourne in 1851, Louis grew up there and initially served as teacher and headmaster for the East Melbourne Hebrew congregation. In 1884 he moved to Sydney, where the Jewish day school had recently been closed. The Sydney Jewish Education Board (later the NSW Board of Jewish Education) was established to replace the school, and Pulver became its headmaster and served in this position until his death in 1897, aged 42.
