Author(s) Mark Haskin AbstractLeah Haskin (nee Wertheim) is enjoying her 100th year with friends, walking and being involved in her community. Born in Rishon le Zion in Palestine in 1908 and emigrating to Perth in 1909 Leah grew up in Carlton as her father had not been able to make a living on the goldfields of Mulline. Leah married Henry Haskin in 1931 at the Toorak Road synagogue. They had 3 children. Leah was a women of courage, kind-hearted, strong values and always thinking of others. She championed the cause against mandatory detention for women and children in detention, as well as helping German Jews in the late 1930's to come to Australia.
