AbstractBook Review: The mass migration programme introduced by Calwell can be justly claimed as a watershed in Australian history as it transformed every aspect of Australian society. Until 1939 Australian immigration policy was that Australia should remain 97 percent Anglo-Saxon and that immigration of non-British Europeans (Alien immigration) was to be discouraged.
