Author(s) Trevor Cohen AbstractSolomon was born in Adelaide in 1853. In the 1870s, living in the Northern Territory, he became editor of a weekly newspaper and highly involved in community affairs. He became an anti-Chinese immigration campaigner in the 1880s and 90s, and in 1897 was elected to the Federal Convention for Framing the Constitution of the Federation of States. He later represented the Northern Territory in the SA parliament, and served in the first House of Representatives until 1903. He died in 1908.
