AbstractBiography of the Melbourne Jewish pioneer on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth in London. Cashmore voyaged alone to Australia in 1836-7 and went into drapery business in Port Phillip. Possibly conducted first Jewish service ever held in Melbourne, at Portland House.
