Author(s) David Benjamin AbstractSource material on Australian Jewish history has not been published to any extent, although it has frequently been used for papers in this Journal. One of the early Anglo-Jewish newspapers, the Voice of Jacob, included a number of references to Jews in Australia and New Zealand which are worthy of collection and publication. The Voice of Jacob commenced publication in London on 16th September, 1841.It continued for seven years, performing valuable work for English-speaking Jews. For a time it was fortunate enough to have correspondents in Sydney and Wellington. Their work needs no comment here, for its quality can readily be seen from the material which they sent to London.
