Author(s) AbstractIn his paper, "From Bridge Street to York Street," published in Vol. II., Part 2 of this Journal, Rabbi Porush quoted part of a letter written by the authorities of the Sydney Synagogue in 1844 claiming that the new York Street building was "the first place of public worship for the Hebrew nation in the Southern Hemisphere." Mr. Glass, in his recent paper on the work of this Society, also refers to the matter. It is time this claim was finally dismissed. It is
