Author(s) L M Goldman AbstractOn 16th April, 1949, the Australian newspapers featured an announcement that the oldest Jew in the Commonwealth had passed away at the age of 94. He was Morris Joseph, of Launceston. His children say that he might have been two or three years older, for, like many Jews who came from the Continent, he was rather reluctant to divulge his exact age, but he was at least 94 when he died.
