Author(s) David Benjamin AbstractPerth was founded simultaneously with Fremantle by Captain Stirling in 1829. Its Jewish development, however, did not begin until the migrations of 1887, which have already been discussed in connection with their influence on Fremantle Jewry. Before that date there had, of coarse, been some Jews in Perth, though only Henry Seeligson attained any communal fame. The true introduction, then, to the Jewish history of Perth is the history of Fremantle.
