Author(s) M Scalit AbstractA little over a century ago, a number of Jews set out from Sydney to make their homes in the south-eastern corner of the colony of New South Wales. The area, which' is now known as Eden-Momaro, already had a sprinkling of Jewish families. ' Long before the 'fifties, many Jewish travellers had visited these parts, as is evident from the name, Jew's Flat, borne by a farming settlement about four miles from Cooma. The former importance of Jew's Flat is indicated by the ruins still remaining of hotels and stores. The name was changed later to Bunyan. This was after the Jews of the locality had moved to Cooma, when the railway was extended to that town.
