BiographyAlbert Ernest Collins was born in Goulburn to a Jewish family originally from Moravia. He was the younger brother of Charles Collins following a similar path of public service. He was originally apprenticed to a Narrabri chemist before joining his brother’s store. Later he owned a brewery and a sheep station. He followed his brother as mayor of Narrabri and also was elected as a local member of parliament. While he was politically conservative, he stood apart from the Liberal Party on many issues. Albert Collins never married and moved to Sydney about 1920 living quietly for the remainder of his long life. He died in Sydney at the age of 88.
