BiographyIan Cohen was born and grew up in Sydney. His involvement as a frontline environmental activist earned him considerable notoriety especially a photograph showing him on a surfboard holding on to the bow of an American destroyer. In 1995 he became the first NSW MLC for the Greens Party and was re-elected in 2003. He resigned from parliament not contesting the 2011 election. Mr. Cohen is highly critical of his party’s position against Israel and particularly rejects the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) proposal which calls for Australian government support to BDS. He is the author of Green Fire describing the protest movement on environmental issues. Mr. Cohen lives in Byron Bay.
