Nerrida Blashki Pohl AbstractFavel Wagczewski, born in Blaski Poland met and married Hannah Immergut from Warsaw on 1 December 1857 in Manchester Hebrew Congregation's synagogue. After making their way to Australia with a newborn, Phillip as he became known, started as a trader on the goldfields, before opening a jewellers shop in Melbourne whilst supporting his growing family. The children took over and Phillip worked tirelessly in the Jewish community. He founded the Melbourne Jewish Aid society and was Chairman of the City Court Bench. The 150 years celebration was arranged to commemorate Hannah and Phillip's arrival in Australia and the bringing together of nearly 6 generations.
